If you’ve read our last two posts, then you know that a new season is coming.

New Fashion Looks!

But, before you start shopping and stuffing your closet with the same burgundy blouse from 4 different stores, you may want to reevaluate your current wardrobe. It might be time to renew your fall pieces. And the only way to do that is with a closet cleanse!

Do you ever find yourself buying the same thing over and over again? It’s okay to be attracted to those items, but we don’t want to look at our wardrobe and see the same thing or just one color.

Do you ever look at your closet and feel overwhelmed because you don’t know what to wear? Then you find yourself saying “I don’t have anything to wear!” It may be time to get rid of those things you don’t wear anymore (or those pants that your aunt bought for you, but you have anything that would remotely match.)

Closet Revamping is a full cleanse of analyzing, cleaning, and organizing your closet. When cleaning your closet, you should thoroughly remove everything from your closet and re-organize it into piles.

The “Yes” Pile

This pile is all of the items that you will keep. Anything that is still trendy, in season, new or classic vintage. Take your time when making your “Yes” pile. Consider why you’re keeping those items. Is it still trending? Do you still wear it? Can you wear it with different looks? Does it still fit? Can you buy it again? Are you sure, you’re going to wear it again? Ask yourself those questions to be definitely sure of what you’re keeping.

The “No” Pile

This pile should primarily be of things that you don’t wear and haven't worn in years. Items that are worn out and need to be repurchased. If you haven’t pulled it out of your closet or thought about it in a year, it needs to go. If it is down to its last thread, it needs to go. If it still has the tag on it, it needs to go. It’s that simple. Sometimes it can be hard to part with some of our favorite items, but it’s what’s best for your closet.

The “Donate” Pile

This pile is similar to the “No” pile. For those items that you just don’t want/wear anymore. The items that still have the tag, are still in season, but doesn’t really fit your fashion style. The items that are still in good shape but don’t fit anymore. This pile should be bigger than your “No” pile. You’re giving them away but they’ll still go into good use.

Closet Cleansing can help relieve the anxiety of never having anything to wear and can help you make better purchasing decisions. (It’ll also help you cut down your time of getting ready every day, so you won’t be late to work.) This process can do so much for you physically and mentally. It can seriously change your life. Some people may be looking to redo their whole wardrobe and adopt a new fashion style. Some may want to upgrade their fashion style. It can give you the feeling of starting “new” or “fresh” (especially right after the new year, spring cleaning, or the start of a new venture.). Closet revamping can help ease the anxiety of never having anything to wear or not knowing what to wear. It’s satisfying to look at your wardrobe and not be overwhelmed by how much stuff you have, or didn’t know you had.

Our favorite perk of Closet Revamping is that it gives you a reason to go shopping! You might’ve thrown out that old beat up leather jacket that you had for years that practically is matte now. Since you got rid of that one, you’ve made room for a new jacket! But wait, you don’t have the discretionary income to buy a new jacket right now. That’s where the “Donate” pile comes in handy. Take your “Donate” pile to a consignment shop like Uptown Cheapskate or Plato’s Closet and convert it into cash! Whatever they don’t take, you can donate to Goodwill or a local shelter and give back to your community.
